The Main Theme
The main theme of the 8th Congress of the EAAERE is “Green Transition: Towards a Sustainable Future”.
The current world is in a critical stage of transition while facing various challenges of climate and global change, pollution and health impacts, resources depletion and poverty alleviation, trade and environment etc. The transition for seeking a balancing and reconciling nature and human, environment and development is critical for a sustainable Asia and world. Responding to the emerging and changing environment, development and social status, the human society has been making continuous efforts to transform its industry, economy and society to a more green and sustainable ones. The environmental and resources economics has become more widely acknowledged for supporting the transition, both academically and practically.
In this 8th Congress, we invite members and colleagues to share and discuss research findings in all areas related to the main theme. We believe the knowledge generated by the efforts of environmental and resources economists will contribute more insights and workable solutions to these problems and challenges. In addition to the technical and academic interests in environmental economics, the 8th Congress also likes to encourage discussions on the policy relevance of the research findings, which can make us have a better and deeper understanding of future scenarios as well as the design of policy instruments.
The thematic sessions will cover but not limited to: climate and global change, environment and health, urban and regional sustainable development, ecosystem and resources management, green growth, valuation, cost-benefit analysis, policy instruments and governance, environmental risk assessment and uncertainty, rural development and food safety, integrated assessment of energy-environment-economy, trade and environment, and green accounting.
